Indigo Virtual Care for kids: A guide for busy parents

Kids get sick. Schedules get busy. And the timing is rarely ideal – especially for parents juggling work, errands and family life.

Whether your child develops a mystery rash, spikes a mild fever or is just under the weather, Indigo Virtual Care offers an easier way to get trusted care and guidance – without leaving home or upending your day.

Think of it as urgent care that comes to you: simple, convenient and built for real-life parenting moments.

What is Indigo Virtual Care?

Indigo Virtual Care is a secure, video-based service available in Washington state and Idaho. It lets you connect with clinicians from wherever you are – home, the office or on the go. Visits cover everyday health needs, including minor illnesses, injuries and prescription refills, without a clinic visit.

When is Indigo Virtual Care a good option for kids?

when is virtual care good for kids?

Here are the most common reasons parents use it:

  • Skin conditions: Rashes, bug bites, mild eczema or ringworm can often be evaluated visually over video. Clinicians can recommend treatment or next steps right away.
  • Fevers and cold/flu symptoms: If your child has a low-grade fever, cough, congestion or body aches, a virtual visit is a great first step to assess symptoms and get guidance on care.
  • Allergies and minor allergic reactions: From seasonal sniffles to hives, a clinician can help identify triggers and recommend treatment to keep symptoms under control.
  • Pink eye and common infections: Highly contagious conditions like pink eye are easy to evaluate virtually – helping your child get treatment fast and avoid spreading germs to others.
  • Minor concerns that need quick reassurance: Sometimes you just want to know: “Is this something to worry about?” Virtual care gives you fast answers without disrupting your whole day or making your child more uncomfortable.

How does it work?

Indigo Virtual Care is your “easy” button when it comes to health care. All you need is a computer, smartphone or tablet and a reliable internet connection. The rest is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Book an appointment: Select a same-day or next-day appointment time. You’ll receive a text message with a link to join your visit at that time.
  2. Meet with a clinician via video: Discuss your child’s symptoms and medical history with one of the same trusted Indigo clinicians you’d normally see in one of our clinics.
  3. Get a treatment plan: By the end of your visit, you’ll have clear next steps – whether it’s home-care advice, a prescription sent to the pharmacy of your choice or guidance on follow-up care.

Visits usually take 25 minutes or less. And if an in-person exam or lab test is needed, we’ll coordinate a nearby visit without another clinician appointment or long wait.

Note: All virtual visits for minor children must be completed by a parent.

Why parents love Indigo Virtual Care

Parents tell us they rely on Indigo Virtual Care for quick, trusted care that fits into their busy day. Here’s why it’s a go-to for families:

  • Comfort for your kiddo: Your child can stay in pajamas, on the couch or even in their pillow fort, instead of a clinic waiting room.
  • Faster access to care: Same-day and next-day appointments let you act quickly when symptoms or injuries pop up.
  • Less exposure to germs: Virtual visits help reduce the spread of illnesses – for your family and others.
  • Care that fits your schedule: Whether you’re at home or on the go, visits are just a click away – and available from 8 am to 8 pm every day.
  • Peace of mind: Professional guidance from Indigo clinicians is the best medicine when you’re unsure what’s happening with your child.

Indigo Virtual Care is covered by most insurance plans, and visits are secure and private – just like in our clinics.

What can’t be treated virtually?

Virtual care isn’t appropriate for every condition. Some symptoms and situations require an in-person visit.

Here are a few examples:

Do not use Indigo Virtual Care if you or a loved one has serious or life-threatening symptoms. Visit your nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
