Wanda Sanchez has been on the move since joining Indigo Urgent Care four years ago.
Initially drawn to the stunning waterfront setting of Indigo’s Point Ruston location, she began her journey as a medical assistant. But it was Indigo’s patient-centered care model and commitment to excellence that sparked her rapid rise into leadership.
She was soon promoted to a lead position, then advanced to clinic manager positions at the Bonney Lake and Frederickson locations. Her passion, dedication, and strong leadership led to a promotion to Area Manager, and she now serves as Southwest Regional Manager.
Sanchez oversees operations at multiple Indigo locations, including Poulsbo, Gig Harbor North, Uptown, University Place, Tacoma Stadium, Point Ruston, Milton, and Lakeland Hills. She also manages the Southwest Region’s float pool, ensuring seamless staffing and support across clinics.
Even with her packed schedule, Sanchez recently took some time to share what it’s like to work at Indigo —and what continues to inspire her journey.
What drew you to a career in urgent care?
I love the fast-paced nature of urgent care. Every day is different, and I enjoy the variety and challenge that comes with it.
Most important, I’m passionate about helping people and being there when they need immediate care. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know we’re making a difference in real time.
Why Indigo?
When I interviewed at Point Ruston Indigo, I was immediately struck by how clean, organized, and welcoming the clinic was. The sleek design, consistent uniforms, and positive energy really stood out.
Once I joined the team, I was even more impressed by the thorough training process and the level of care and attention given to both patients and staff. It was clear that this was a place where I could grow and be part of something special—and that’s exactly what happened.
What do you enjoy most about your job and team?
I’m fortunate to spend time collaborating with peers, area managers, providers, and support staff. I love rounding in the clinics, getting to know team members, and investing in their individual growth. Every day is busy in the best way, and no two days are the same. That variety really keeps me energized and inspired.
I’m also passionate about providing the highest level of patient care. There’s something really special about working alongside colleagues who are just as committed to delivering the best care possible. That shared sense of purpose drives everything we do.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my husband and our two children. My son plays soccer and my daughter is into gymnastics, so we’re always on the go and cheering them on. As a family, we enjoy long walks at Chambers Bay, cooking together, and trying out new restaurants. I also play co-ed softball year-round.
Overall, I’m always looking for ways to grow personally—whether it’s learning something new or simply investing quality time with my family. We love anything that involves being outdoors and making memories together.
What’s your advice for someone thinking about a career in urgent care?
If you’re looking for a career that’s dynamic, fast-paced, and filled with purpose, Indigo is the place to be.
You’ll never be bored, and you’ll work alongside incredible providers and team members who are passionate about what they do. Indigo is continuously expanding, which means there are always opportunities to grow your career. From day one, I knew this organization was truly invested in its people and their growth.
