Lab testing made easy: What to expect at Indigo Urgent Care

Not feeling well is bad enough. The last thing you or your family needs is to spend the day bouncing between appointments – or waiting days or weeks for one – just to figure out what’s going on.

At Indigo Urgent Care, many common lab tests are available right on site, making it easier to get evaluated, tested and treated in one visit.

That means you can:

  • Avoid a separate trip to a lab facility
  • Spend less time coordinating multiple appointments
  • Get clarity sooner
  • Start treatment more quickly, if needed

When should I choose urgent care for lab testing?

Urgent care is a great option when you have symptoms that need prompt evaluation and testing – or when you need care sooner than you can get in with your primary care provider.

  • Common reasons to visit include:
  • Fever or chills
  • Sore throat
  • Cough or flu-like symptoms
  • Painful or frequent urination
  • Fatigue or feeling unwell
  • Possible signs of infection
  • Recent exposure to an illness and need for testing
  • A new health concern when you can’t get a timely primary care appointment

For ongoing health needs, routine lab work or specialized testing, your primary care provider or specialist may be the best place to start.

What types of lab testing does urgent care offer?

Indigo offers testing for:

  • COVID-19
  • Influenza
  • Strep throat
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Pregnancy
  • Blood sugar concerns
  • Certain infections, including some sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Other conditions that may require additional lab work

Need results ASAP?

Rapid testing for COVID-19, flu and strep is available at all Indigo Urgent Care locations, with same-day results.

Can I get same-day lab testing or a blood draw?

If your provider orders lab work during your visit, your sample can often be collected the same day. That means you don't have to schedule a separate trip to another lab before getting the care you need.

Some specialized tests require more detailed analysis and are sent to an outside laboratory. Even then, your sample can often be collected during your Indigo visit.

How long does it take to get results?

Timing depends on the type of test. Many common lab results are available during your visit, while othersmay take a little longer.

Rapid tests for illnesses like COVID-19, flu and strep often provide same-day results. Tests sent to an outside laboratory may take several days.

Your provider will let you know when to expect results and what steps to take next.

How will I get my results?

Your provider will explain your results before you leave whenever possible. If additional testing is sent to an outside laboratory, you'll be notified once the results are available and contacted if they require follow-up care or treatment.

Will my primary care provider receive my results?

If you have a primary care provider or need follow-up with a specialist, your visit information and lab results can be shared as needed. This helps ensure your care team has the information they need if additional treatment or follow-up is recommended.
